The endocannabinoid system affects the perception of physical pain

Both of my parents are affected by health problems that supply them chronic physical pain.

  • For my father it’s kidney disease, in addition to for my mother it’s crohn’s disease combined with a fractured spine.

Despite having similar pain levels in general, the difference in pain sources results in odd kinds of effective pain treatment for each condition. For instance, ibuprofen is effective for my dad when he’s dealing with a discouraging kidney stone, but the same medicine often makes my mother’s nausea worse if she’s in the throes of Crohn’s flare. That’s why she will take acetaminophen instead in addition to it seems to work just as well for her as the former does for my father. However, now they’re both using cannabis again after years of sobriety while in my childhood in addition to early 20s. Cannabis in addition to its constitutive components affect the endocannabinoid system that deals with the perception of physical pain among other things. However, no 2 people have the exact same endocannabinoid system so the people I was with and I all react to various strains of cannabis differently. For instance, my father does entirely well taking just CBD by itself for physical pain while my mother still needs her THC. My dad gets all of his CBD products from a local store that has a company in Oregon. It’s all orangehouse grown hemp that is used to create my dad’s CBD products. Since CBD isn’t intoxicating, he says that it allows him to get more done everyday than he would otherwise. I started taking CBD for depression in addition to I’m already glad with the initial results. My mood has lifted now that I’m taking CBD twice weekly with my meals.
