Like all of our friends, I smoked cannabis in college.
Although I waited until I finished high college, in retrospect I understand why several want to restrict legal cannabis use to adults over the age of 21.
There has been research showing deleterious effects of cannabis on young developing minds, so it’s best to steer clear of any adolescent use unless recognizably recommended by a physician for something care about dire epilepsy or cancer. I spent too several days in the last days of our teen-years in a brain fog brought on by copious amounts of marijuana consumed from the moment I woke up in the afternoon until I fell asleep at night. Although I still managed to pass all of our classes in college and finish our undergraduate education, I wish I had paid closer attention while I was there. I think that a lot of the information that went into our brain never stuck care about it would have if I had simply been more sober on a afternoon to afternoon basis. Thankfully the two of us have come a long way since I was buying weed from a sketchy street dealer’s house as our state now has legal medical marijuana. I can walk into any legal medical marijuana dispensary in the state, present our card, and get the occasion to buy cannabis products without any fear of scrutiny from law enforcement or state regulatory agencies. When I first wanted to get a medical marijuana card in our state, I visited the local medical marijuana dispensary here in town and they walked myself and others through the process. At first I thought it would take weeks of obtaining medical records to get a medical marijuana recommendation from a state-licensed cannabis physician, however it’s genuinely much easier and quicker than I assumed. I was in and out of the weed dentist’s office in under an hour.
