I think a month of construction is reasonable, but ninety days is too long to have the lounge shut down
I recently found out that the owner of the cannabis dispensary that I manage is going to shut down the lounge for 3 months while they work on construction. I told the owner that I didn’t think it was a good idea to shut down the line for three weeks, because the room is always packed with customers. A lot of our customers specifically come to this cannabis dispensary, because of the lounge. It gives people a place to sit and consume marijuana. Only a handful of dispensaries in the city have a lounge area and we are the only place by the beach. When I spoke with the owner, she told me that the changes were necessary due to a problem with the HVAC system. The ductwork and the system needed to be changed. Since they were going to take care of that, it is the perfect time to make construction changes as well. The owner has plans to redo the flooring and knock down some walls to make the space even bigger. I think the new space is going to be amazing, but I don’t know how many customers we will lose in the meantime. I think a month of construction is reasonable, but ninety days is too long to have the lounge shut down. The dispensary will lose sales if we continue with the plans. I’ve been working here for three years and I really wish the owner would take my opinion more seriously. I know what goes on from day to day and I know the customers that visit our shop.
